e-Poster Presentations

Date: 8 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 8th 2018
Abstract Submission Deadline: July 31, 2018

Content: Abstracts may be submitted on any aspect of clinical health-related dentistry, including: basic science research; clinical study; case presentation and literature review. Abstracts may describe work that has been or will be submitted at other meetings.

Who May Submit: The call for abstracts is open to interested students (undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, postdoctoral), faculty, or private practice dentist. No individual should be first author on more than one presentation.

Formatting and Submitting Your Abstract

Abstracts are to be submitted online using the form at the bottom of this page.  Abstracts must adhere to the the following instructions:

  • Length: limit an abstract to approximately 300 words excluding the title
  • File format: Microsoft Word document or PDF
  • Do not include: diagrams, illustrations or other graphic objects in your abstract. (Of course, diagrams, illustrations or other graphic objects can be included in your case presentation if your abstract is approved.)

 

Abstract Review Process & Presentation Format

Once the Alabama AGD receives the on-line submission of an abstract before the deadline at 11:59 PM (central time zone) on July 31, 2018, the abstract will be evaluated by the Alabama AGD poster committee. Notification of the acceptance of an abstract will be sent via email from the Alabama AGD on August 15th.

The author of an accepted abstract must register for the Alabama AGD annual meeting and will be assigned to present the case at a time between 8 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 8th 2018. Authors of accepted abstracts will receive specific details about the presentation format.

All presented cases will be posted on the Alabama AGD website for one year. There will be time for Q&A after each presentation. There is no submission fee.

 

Presentation Judging & Prizes

Poster presenters will be given 10 minutes to present followed by 5 minutes for Q&A. The e-posters will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Content of Poster (50%)
  • Clarity of Presentation (40%)
  • Potential to create new therapies and/or contribute to improved human health (10%)

Prizes will be awarded as follows: $200 for 1st place, $100 for 2nd place, and $50 for 3rd place
